Low
level fibre channel protocol testing at it’s best!
The
PulsarTE™ Test Environment is a complete 1 or 2 Gb
Fibre Channel Protocol system consisting of a PCI to FC
interface board, and Vela Application software.
Designed to allow repeatable testing and monitoring of
Fibre Channel loops, links, bridges, switches, and
peripheral devices, with PulsarTE™, users can easily
access lower level Fibre Channel protocol functions,
such as LIPs, Extended Link Services and Task
Management.
Vela application software is a graphical user interface
that allows for easy access to PulsarTE™’s protocol
features. The four main functions Vela includes are:
LIP Generation
Designed for ultimate control and flexibility in LIP
generation, PulsarTE™ provides the ability to generate
a LIP at any time to test the response for the device
when operations are interrupted or to test the error
recovery capabilities of the physical devices,
application software and/or the device driver software.
PulsarTE™ supports all variations of LIPs and can
generate them instantly by pressing the LIP pushbutton
or PulsarTE™’s LIP generator will issue LIPs every n
seconds.
TRAFFIC GENERATION
PulsarTE™ generates user configurable traffic on the
loop while providing the user with full
"throttle" control to set the traffic
bandwidth. Simple user interfaces give the operator a
lit "start/stop" button while a Tachometer
measures and displays the bandwidth consumed at the HBA
(with running average and peak value markers).
MONITOR LINK STATUS
Real-time monitoring of link status is standard in all
PulsarTE™ systems allowing for precise pinpointing of
weak or problem links. PulsarTE™ will track all link
error status figures for all nodes while providing for
optional logging to a file. Error statistics are
automatically fed into PulsarTE™’s Graphical
Topology Display. Alarms can be configured to trip on
user-definable excessive growth rate for each status
figure.
VIEW LOOP TOPOLOGY
PulsarTE™ presents a dynamic graphical view of the
loop and each device or node discovered then updates in
real-time always providing a physical view of the loop.
"Views" can be stored and logged for later
retrieval and review while alarms can be set to notify
the user or log to file when the loop topology changes.
